About Me

My photo
My hubby Khalid and I welcomed our sweet little Maya Jayne into the world on April 8th, 2009 and couldn't be more in love with her! We also have a Sharpei/Boxer mix named Ariel...best dog ever. Khalid works as a Program Manager and I am staying at home with Maya. I love my life and couldn't imagine it any differently! :)

Saucer is Where it's AT!!!!

Maya is in LOVE with her saucer!! It's so cute when I put her in there. I just sit there and watch her grin from ear to ear, concentrate so hard at playing with all the toys and perform her new singing/shrieking routine. :)

I went with my mommy gut and took her to the pediatrician for a weight check on Wednesday. It was three weeks exactly after her 4 month check up where she was 13 lbs even. Well.....three weeks later she was still exactly 13 lbs. :( The pedi said she wasn't so concerned about the number (in the 45th percentile) but was more concerned that she hadn't gained any weight in three weeks. I have been exclusively breastfeeding but this thrush has really been trying to get us down! Going on 3 months of it now!! Maya has always been symptom free but it hurts like a b%#*& as far as I'm concerned!! The pedi knows how badly I want to keep it up, so she told me just to supplement 2-3 bottles of formula a day until I can build my stash back up. I did that for two days and have already gotten back ahead of the game to where I am only using one bottle of formula a day. Hopefully none soon. I was devastated and felt so guilty (ridiculous, I know) but got over it after I gave her the first formula bottle. Mom guilt is crazy, huh?! Whatever it takes to help my little princess be healthy! She has been napping a little better now that she is getting more to eat.
These were Sydney's jammies....love how they are so form fitting!

Excuse Me, Maya Has Something To Say!

My little munchkin babbling/singing. She's been doing this high pitched noise all day and it is SO cute! Of course, I won't make you watch 10 minutes worth of it, but here's a little snippet. :) And I had to zoom in on her feet!!

Dreams

Ok, I have always had a knack for WEIRDO dreams but ever since I had Maya, they have been like hallucinations!!! For a good two months after I gave birth, I kept waking up at night thinking I was laying on top of her and I would be in a complete panic. Literally....TWO MONTHS....EVERY NIGHT! This is particularly weird because she had never even come close to sleeping in our bed. She did sleep in our room until she was two months old, but she was in her bassinet. I think it must have been because I was feeding her so often and she was always attached to me, so I would wake up thinking she was still attached! But again....I didn't even feed her in bed! When we moved her to her crib, these dreams died down. I would still wake up sometimes thinking she was in our bed but it wasn't like I thought she was hurt. One time at my parent's house, I even picked up Khalid's arm and was cradling it until I kind of woke up more and realized what I was doing! HA! Well last night I had another bizarre one. We still have the bassinet set up, but right now it just has a blanket in it. I woke up (kind of) and sat on the edge of the bed. I was looking in there and could swear I saw her. I sat there completely confused because she hasn't slept in there for two months. Then I became terrified that I had started sleepwalking because I absolutely did not remember getting her and putting her in there! Well I started to wake up a bit more and walked to her room and there she was sleeping soundly!!! Augh! I went back to our room and clearly saw a blanket! I am SO over these crazy dreams!!!

Whirlwind Weekend!

We went to Tulsa this weekend to celebrate a couple special birthdays. My little Maya was SUCH a cranky pants all weekend long! Of course, you would be too if you hadn't pooped in 3 days! Teehee. After 2 oz. of Gerber prune juice, we were on our way back to happy-ville. :) Even though she was very fussy, she still looked fabulously adorable!!
Grayson turned 2 and Luke turned 3....where does the time go?! We had such a great time with family and friends.

My Little Party Animal

Miss Maya had her first big night out on the town this past weekend. My cousin Ann got married on Saturday in Ponca City and it was such a beautiful wedding and very fun reception! I could not believe the planning that went into getting everything ready to go to one wedding for ONE night. I pumped the final 20 minutes of the drive to Ponca and we stopped at my cousin Amy's house so I could feed her and get the bottle ready for the reception. We only had 30 minutes so I am feeding her, Khalid is getting his suit on, and Amy's cat is running off with my necklace. It was hilarious. We scurried around and got to the church with 10 minutes to spare. Maya was a little fussy so we decided Khalid would stay in the lobby and I would go sit with the rest of my fam. Well Khalid and Maya scooted into the very back pew right before it started and luckily she only cried out one time right as people started walking in and then she fell right to sleep! The reception was so much fun. Maya stayed awake the entire time, so basically she was up from 6:30-11:15pm!! What a trooper!!! She never cried one time. I think she was in awe of all the lights and music and soooo many people. My dad and sister both fed her bottles so Mommy actually got to have two adult beverages!! :) All in all the night was a success and Ann was a gorgeous bride. A good time was had by all.

Maya has had a little trouble sleeping the past couple weeks but after last night and today, I am thinking we are heading back on track. She has been obsessed with rolling over so she gets really mad every time she goes over onto her tummy and can't get back! I've been working on it with her a lot while she is awake so I am hoping she's getting it down. :) She had a really good night's sleep last night and has been so happy and napped so well today! We went on a play date this morning and she sat up next to me on the couch just chewing on her hand and staring at the ceiling fans. She is so stinkin' cute!!! :) I am loving every moment with her, even the ones from last week when I was sleepless too!
