The Magical Three Month Mark Coming Soon...

Maya going home from the hospital

Maya week 10! My little growing flower!!!

Everyone told me when Miss Maya was born that there is something magical about the three month mark. It's hard to comprehend what the heck they are talking about when you are getting 2 hours of sleep at a time!! Slowly but surely, I am seeing what they are talking about now! Maya is 11 weeks old today. Time FLIES! Also, in a way, it seems like it's been much longer than 11 weeks.
Here's what we've been up to: Maya is sleeping at least seven hours during that first stretch at night and has gone nine hours a couple times in the last week. She went from crying the whole time during her baths to loving them and smiling as Mommy and Daddy sing silly songs to her! However, she is still not fond of moving from the warm bath to the cold air! She is starting to do better in her car seat but is not crazy about it unless we are moving!! LOL. She is doing about 3 tummy times per day at about 5 minutes each. A month ago she wouldn't go more than a minute! I even put her in the bumbo seat the other day and although I had to use my hand to support the back of her head, I couldn't believe what I was seeing! She is discovering her hands more and more every day. SOOOO cute to watch her just stare at them for minutes at a time! We had some trouble with latching the first week Maya was here and now it is hard to believe I was shedding tears that week! We have that latch down and although I have been battling thrush, (OUCH! Luckily just me....not Maya) I am really enjoying the experience. Last week Khalid tried to give her her first bottle. She didn't resist it but it wasn't very successful. We are going to try again this Saturday with a different bottle.
My little girl is growing so fast and I am just trying to cherish every moment of every day. Khalid got a wonderful promotion at work and that has helped us feel much more comfortable with me staying at home. I am so thankful and am really enjoying it. I started doing some medical transcription from home for the physical therapy clinic I was going to while pregnant. I went for some really bad pain but look how it turned out!!! Everything happens for a reason. :) I work about 3-5 hours per week and can fit it in whenever I need to with our schedule.
We are also getting out and about a lot more. Now we have been to Tulsa and Ponca City. I just packed up and headed out for an adventure and they went really well! Here are some recent pics and I've included two comparison pics between Week 1 and Week 10.....amazing! That's our update for now!!
LOVE this one!!! :)

Time is Flying!!!

Well my little Maya is eight weeks old today! Unreal. I remember every tiny little detail about April 8th. However, it's funny that the long days of waiting for her to arrive seem SO long ago. Maya is so fun with all her big grins and coos. Every day when I go pick her up in the morning, I fall in love even more. I have to say that before baby, I sometimes had problems with patience. I often worried if I would lose my patience easily with a crying newborn. But it's like this whole new Emily developed when I gave birth to her. Even on her fussiest days, instead of getting impatient that I can't figure out what's wrong with her, I just stay calm and do what I can to comfort her. Now I realize that will become harder when she hits her terrible twos but we will take it one day at a time!! :) She is becoming less fussy as we learn more and more about each other each day. We are falling into a routine. We feed, play, sleep and it's working out pretty well now. We thought she hated the swaddle after week 2 so we stopped. We recently revisited the swaddle and now she is sleeping awesome at night! Who knew!? (Well, BJ did since she was the one who gave me the idea!!) Sunday was the first night we put her in her crib. She had been taking her naps in there since week three but for some reason it was really hard for me to part with her at night! As Sunday rolled on by, I kept getting so sad, but when the time came to lay her down, it was actually pretty uneventful!! Khalid thought I would come to bed crying but I was fine! We all slept wonderful that night which was such a surprise to me. I really need to finish decorating her room though so she has some fun things to look at when she wakes! I've finally got some fun girly decor so I just need to get it on the walls. I'm adding some recent pics and hope to keep up with this a little more often.
